Question 68198
Translate the following statement into an algebraic equation. Let x represent the number.
	6 times a number is 14 more than that number.

Let x represent the number

6 times the number is 6 times x or 6x

(if the number was 3 instead of x, figuring out what 6 times 3 is would be a no brainer, right?------it would be 6 times 3)

"is" usually means =

 the number is x, so 14 more than the number is x+14

(if the number was 2 instead of x, figuring out what 14 more than 2 is would be a no brainer, right?----it would be 2+14)

(Why does it have to get so hard when we are dealing in unknowns instead of regular, everyday numbers? Answer: It really doesn't)

So, putting it all together:

6x=x+14---------------------------------answer
