Question 803294
Hooke's law. The distance d when a spring is stretched by a hanging object varies directly as the weight w of the object.
If the distance is 27cm when the weight is 4kg, what is the distance when the weight is 5kg? The distance is cm.
:
let d = dist when 5 kg is hung on the spring
Varies directly therefore:
{{{d/27}}} = {{{5/4}}}
cross multiply
4d = 27 * 5
4d = 135
d = 135/4
d = 33.75 cm
