I'm not going to do your entire 10 question homework assignment.

1. If the car hasn't moved since it was filled with 22 gallons of gas, then *[tex \Large d\ =\ 0] and *[tex \Large G\ =\ 20]. But when the gas is gone (*[tex \Large G\ =\ 0]), at 22 mpg, the car must have gone 440 miles (20 times 22). That gives two points on the *[tex \LARGE dG] plane, namely *[tex \Large (0,20)] and *[tex \Large (440,0)].

Use the two point form of an equation of a line:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ y\ -\ y_1\ =\ \left(\frac{y_1\ -\ y_2}{x_1\ -\ x_2}\right)(x\ -\ x_1) ]

where *[tex \Large \left(x_1,y_1\right)] and *[tex \Large \left(x_2,y_2\right)] are the coordinates of the given points.

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ G\ -\ 20\ =\ \left(\frac{20\ -\ 0}{0\ -\ 440}\right)(d\ -\ 0)]

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ G\ =\ -\frac{1}{22}d\ +\ 20]
