Question 797672

The area of a trapezoid is 240 cm2. The height is 20 cm and the length of one of the parallel sides is 6 cm. Find the length of the second parallel side. Round off your answer to two decimal places.

Area of trapezoid, or A = {{{(h(b[1] + b[2]))/2}}}, with:

h being height

{{{b[1]}}} being base 1 (one of the bases of the trapezoid)

{{{b[2]}}} being base 2 (one of the bases of the trapezoid)

Solve for one of the bases and do a check. You should get {{{highlight_green(18)}}} cm as the length of the longer base.
