Question 788210

I have a word problem that I can't solve. So I have twice as many quarters as nickels and five more dimes than nickels. The amount equals $9.60. I need to find an equation to model this situation. Thanks for your help!

Let amount of nickels be N

Then amount of quarters = 2N

Amount of nickels = N + 5

Create a value equation, the likes of: {{{highlight_green(.05N + .25(2N) + .1(N + 5) = 9.6)}}}

Solve for N, or amount of nickels. Then determine amount of quarters and dimes.

Then do a check!!
