Question 779559

Please help me solve this equation: 1.03p-4=2.15p+8.72
Please explain how you solved it also... And show what you did to solve it.. Thanks soo much!

1.03p - 4 = 2.15p + 8.72

1.03p - 2.15p = 8.72 + 4 ------ Subtracting 2.15p, or adding - 2.15p to both sides

- 1.12p = 12.72

{{{p = 12.72/- 1.12}}}, or {{{highlight_green(p = - 11.35714286)}}}

You could have also multiplied the entire equation by 100 to get rid of the decimals, and end up with: 103p - 400 = 215p + 872.

Either way will work!!

You can do the check!!
