Question 775841
3x/4-9=-6

3x/4 is a fraction. not a division sign.
I tried a similar problem which was 2x/3-5=7 and the book says the answer is 18, but i got 13. I divided 3 on both sides, then cancelled the 3 on the side with the variable and ended up with 2x-5=21. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

{{{2x/3 - 5 = 7}}}

2x - 15 = 21 ------ Multiplying by LCD, 3

2x = 21 + 15

2x = 36

x = {{{36/2}}}, or {{{highlight_green(18)}}}

You can do the check!!

You can now try to solve the 1st equation: {{{3x/4 - 9 = - 6}}}

You then do a check!!
