Question 774156

Q: The measure of a supplement of an angle is 12 degrees greater than three times the measure of a complement. Find the measure.

I know that the answer is 51 degrees but how do I get there. (This is for my algebra II class)

Let angle be A

Then its supplement = 180 - A, and its complement = 90 - A

Therefore, 180 - A = 3(90 - A) + 12

180 - A = 270 - 3A + 12

180 - A = 282 - 3A

- A + 3A = 282 - 180

2A = 102

A, or angle = {{{102/2}}}, or {{{highlight_green(51^o)}}}

You can do the check!!
