Length of leg and short side is not enough to find length of base.  You CAN find it if this is a right-triangle.  In that case, long side is the hypotenuse, and then the base and short side each are legs of the right-triangle.  The case allows you to say {{{hypotenuse^2=base^2+side^2}}}, {{{10^2=b^2+6^2}}} and you can find b.
