Question 66473
Together, a bat, a ball, and a glove cost $99.00. The bat costs $9.95 more than the ball, and the glove costs $65.45 more than the bat. How much does each cost?
THANK YOU!

Let  x=cost of the ball
Then $9.95+x=cost of the bat
And $9.95+x+$65.45=cost of the glove

ball+bat+glove=$99.00
x+$9.95+x+$9.95+x+$65.45=$99.00 collect like terms
3x+$85.35=$99.00 subtract $85.35 from both sides:
3x+$85.35-$85.35=$99.00-$85.35

3x=$13.65
x=$4.55 cost of ball
$9.95+x=$9.95+4.55=$14.50 cost of bat

$9.95+x+$65.45=$14.50+$65.45=$79.95  cost of glove

ck
$4.55+$14.50+$79.95=$99.00
$99.00=$99.00

Bat costs $9.95 more than ball=$9.95+$4.55=$14.50
Glove costs $65.45 more than bat=$65.45+$14.50=$79.95

Hope this helps----ptaylor
