Hi, I`m trying to study some of last years math to keep my mind fresh. I have forgotten some of this material and was wondering if you could help me solve this problem : "Janet walked to school at 6 km/h and rode home from school at a speed 3 times as fast. If her total traveling time was 1 hour, how many minutes did she spend walking?" I tried making several different charts, none with success, or at least that make sense to me. Could you please help me? Thanks a lot! :)


Let time she spent walking be T
Then time spent riding = 1 – T

Since walking speed = 6 km/h, then distance covered walking = T(6), or 6T km
Since riding speed = 18 (3 * 6) km/h, then distance covered riding = 18(1 - T), or 18 – 18T 


Distance covered walking, equals distance covered riding, OR
6T = 18 – 18T
6T + 18T = 18
24T = 18
T, or time spent walking = {{{18/24}}}, or {{{3/4}}} hour, or {{{highlight_green(45)}}} minutes
