Question 66131
Simplify: 2x-[6-4(2x-3)]

The key to simplifying expressions such as this one with minimum confusion is to start with the innermost parens/brackets first and that's how we'll start:

2x-[6-4(2x-3)]=

2x-[6-8x+12]=
Note: This bracket is, in effect, being multiplied by a -1 so you have to keep track of the signs.

2x-6+8x-12 collect like terms

10x-18 or 2(5x-9)

Hope this helps-----ptaylor
