Question 65776
Hi Lackinmath,
This has been posted a few times. I really think that the book or worksheet that this came from has a type-o. I think there should be either a + or - between the x and the 4 in the first set of parentheses.
(3x4y^3-5y)-(2x+3y^3-5y)
As written all you can do is:
{{{(3*4xy^3-5y)-(2x+3y^3-5y)}}}
{{{12xy^3-5y-2x-3y^3+5y}}}
{{{12xy^3-5y+5y-2x-3y^3}}}
{{{12xy^3-2x-3y^3}}}
If there were a + between the x and the 4:
{{{(3x+4y^3-5y)-(2x+3y^3-5y)}}}
{{{3x-2x+4y^3-3y^3-5y+5y}}}
{{{x+y^3}}}
Do you see why I think there is a type-o in your book or worksheet?
Happy Calculating, Lackinmath!!!!
