Something like this may be easy to see if you have a small set of people. If not, then I recommend you practice this some more until it becomes easier to spot.


(a) ¯C¯ = set of all non-smoking Americans


(b) ¯C¯ ∩ ¯D¯ = set of all non-smoking Americans who don't have health problems


(c) C ∩ D = set of all Americans who smoke and have health problems


(d) D - C = set of all Americans who have health problems BUT do NOT smoke


(e) D U C = set of all Americans who have health problems or they smoke (or both)


Note: for some reason set E is never used at all.
