Question 760367
The following scores represent the performance in a beer drinking contest between reporters from three different newspapers.
“Scores” (measured in liters)
Newspaper 1 1, 3, 4
Newspaper 2 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 9
Newspaper 3 2, 3, 3, 4
(1) Set up an analysis of variance table. (2) Calculate the F-statistic and test the hypothesis that news paper affiliation has no effect on the ability to drink beer.
------
Ho: u1 = u2 = u3
Ha: at least one of the means is different
----
I ran an ANOVA Test and got the following:
test stat: F = 10.1138
p-value: 0.0032
----
Since the p-value is less than 1%, reject Ho at the 1%
level of significance.
-------------
Conclusion: At least one of the means is different.
