Question 65374
Note : 4*2*4 is not equal to 28.
The factors are the terms which multiply together to give the required expression.

To get the factors of 4x - 28 look for a common factor in each term. You should notice that 4 will go into both 4x and 28. You can therefore write down 4 as one of the factors. You now check what 4 will need to be multiplied by to give 4x + 28. To get the 4x you need to multiply by x and to get -28 you need to multiply by -7. The two factors are therefore 4 and (x-7)

In a similar way you should be able to see that 5 is a common factor in both 5x and 35. Now consider what does 5 need to be multiplied by to get 5x - 35. Hopefully you can work out that the two factors are 5 and (x-7).
So the original problem can be rewritten as
{{{(4x-28)/(5x-35)}}}
{{{(4(x-7))/(5(x-7))}}}
The common factor of (x-7) can now be cancelled out
{{{(4cross((x-7)))/(5cross((x-7)))}}}
{{{4/5}}}
