Question 65254
Suppose a pond has only three types of fish: catfish, trout and bass, in the ration 5:3:3. There are 50 fish in total. Assuming you are allowed to only catch three fish before throwing them back, find the probability of catching three trout, or catching the three types of fish in alphabetical order.\
--------------
First: Find out how many of each type of fish there are in the pond
5x:3x:3x
5x+3x+3x=50
x=50/11
5x=250/11 = 22 8/11 rounded to 23
3x=150/11 = 13 7/11 rounded to 14
P(3 trout)= 14C3/5C3=0.1857...
Same for 3 bass
P(3 catfish)=23C3/50C3=0.090357...
