Question 744779
Tom wants to buy some candy bar that magazine for a trip. He has decided to buy 3 times as many candy bars as magazines. Each candy bar costs $0.70 and each h magazine costs $2.50. How many of each item can he buy if he has $20 to spend.

Thank you for ur time, please respond as soon as possible, thank you.

Let the amount of magazines he can buy be M

Then the amount of candy bars he can buy = 3M

Total cost of magazines = 2.5M, and total cost of candy bars = .7(3M), or 2.1M

Since he has $20 to spend, then we can say that: {{{2.5M + 2.1M <= 20}}} -----{{{4.6M <= 20}}}

Amount of magazines he can buy, or {{{M <= 20/4.6}}} ----- {{{M <= 4.35}}} ≈ {{{highlight_green(4)}}}

If he buys 4 magazines, then he can buy 3M, or 3(4), or {{{highlight_green(12)}}} candy bars.

$1.60 would be left over though, so he can get more candy bars.

You can do the check!!
