L + W = 30

Area = L*W
176 = L*W

L = 30-W
Substitute for "L" and solve for  "W":
176 = (30-W)W

-W^2 + 30W - 176 = 0
W^2 -30W + 176 = 0
---
(W-22)(W - 8) = 0

If Width = 22 then L = 8
If Width = 8 then Length = 22
