Question 734484
I need to find cos of X. the triangle seems to be an obtuse scalene triangle. the hypotenuse is 12, since its the longest side. the adjacent angle i am guessing is 7 and the opposite has a length of 8.
---------------
If the side opposite angle x is 8, and the other sides are 7 and 12:
{{{12^2 = 7^2 + 8^2 - 2*7*8*cos(x)}}}
Solve for cos(x)
------
I don't know why you're guessing it's 7.
Also, hypotenuse applies only to right triangles.
