Question 732931
<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

Lowest common denominator means: What is the smallest number that is evenly divisible by both of the denominators?

100 evenly divides 100, 200, 300, 400, 500...and so on.

60 evenly divides 60, 120, 180, 240, 300 Ah-ha!! Both of them evenly divide 300, and that is the lowest common denominator. Actually you don't technically need the lowest common denominator, you just need a common denominator. In the end, 600 would work just as well. It is just that using the LCD allows you to use smaller numbers and less ugly arithmetic.
