Question 64039
QUESTION:

-4=7x-(-1)/8

ANSWER:

-4 = 7X - (-1)/8

Add (-1)/8 on both sides of the equation.( Because here we want to find the value of x. For that bring all the x terms in one side and all the other terms into other.)

Here in the right side we have (-1)/8 is subtracting from 7x, so add both sides by that term so that it will get cacelled from the right side and only 7x will retain.

==> -4 +(-1)/8 =7x-(-1)/8 + (-1)/8

==> -4 +(-1)/8 = 7x --------------------------(1)

Now we have to simplify the left hand side.

Here we can rewrite the expressions as follows,

-4/1 +(-1)/8

Here the denominators are not same so first of all make it equal.

Find out the least common factor of 1 and 8, which is 8

Multiply whole term by 8 and put tha common denominator 8

==>  {8* -4/1 +(-1)/8 }/8

==> { -32 - 1} /8

==> -33/8

==> -33/8

Now equation (1)-4 +(-1)/8 = 7x ==>

  -33/8 = 7X

NOW DIVIDE BOTH SIDES BY 7

==> -33/8*7  = 7x/7

==> -33/56  = x

==>  x = -33/56

Hope you understood.
