Since the boundary line does not go through the origin, use the origin, (0,0), as a test point.  Substitute the coordinates of the test point into your original inequality.  In this case, you would write 0 < -6.  If that is a true statement, shade in the side of the line that CONTAINS the test point.  If it is not a true statement, shade in the side of the line that does NOT CONTAIN the test point.  In the event you are trying to evaluate where to shade a graph where the boundary line does pass through the origin, pick some other point that is NOT on the boundary line.  I recommend something with small integer coefficients.
