Question 63023

QUESTION:

Find the distance between (-2,3) and (4,5)

ANSWER:

Distance between two points is given by,

square root of {( difference of x coordinates)^2  + difference of y coord's)^2}

==> square root of {( -2-4)^2  + (3-5)^2}

==> square root of {( -6)^2  + (-2)^2}

==> square root of {36  + 4}

==> square root of (40)

so answer is square root of (40)

or it is equal to 2sqrt(5)

 Hope you understood.
