Question 707908
Whenever twins Sandra and Rachel read a book, Sandra wastes no time and begins to read immediately at a constant rate of 3 pages per minute, while Rachel has a certain “ritual” that she always performs: Pour a glass of milk, get her favorite pillow, solve a math problem and then begin to read.
 This process of Rachel’s takes 10 minutes, but she can read at a rate of 5 pages per minute.
 If they begin their perspective reading procedures at 8:00 pm, then at what time will they have both read the same number
:
Let m = no. minutes required for them to read the same number pages
:
3m = 5(m - 10)
3m = 5m - 50
50 = 5m - 3m
50 = 2m
m = 50/2
m = 25 minutes
:
They will have read the same number of pages at 8:25
