Question 702052
8y-3(5+2y)=85-3x

Take care of multiplications and divisions first; and then deal with additions and subtractions.

Steps may vary,....
8y-15-6y=85-3x
8y-6y-15=85-3x
+3x+2y-15=85-3x+3x
3x+2y-15+15=85+0+15
3x+2y=100

PostNote - Are you SURE the x is not supposed to be a y instead? If it IS supposed to be y, then you'd really end up with 3y+2y=100, then you would add the terms of y:
{{{5y=100}}}
{{{(5y)/5=100/5}}}
{{{y=20}}}.

Your original shown equation had two variables, x and y.
