If you want to convert a slope-intercept form to point-slope form, pick any number you like and add the opposite to both sides of the equation.  This number becomes your *[tex \LARGE y_1].  Divide *[tex \LARGE b\ -\ y_1] by *[tex \LARGE m] to find *[tex \LARGE x_1].  Now you have what you need to write your point-slope equation.  Hints for choosing *[tex \LARGE y_1]:  Small integers generally make the arithmetic smaller and less prone to error.  Also, this is much simpler if *[tex \LARGE b\ -\ y_1] is evenly divisible by *[tex \LARGE m]
