Question 699469
The great thing about a rhombus?
It is a parallelogram with four equal sides!
So it MUST be true that:
{{{x+14=5x-2}}} and {{{2y+4=3y-3}}}
It is also true that:
{{{x+14=2y+4}}} etc., but that is not nearly as useful (even though you could still solve for x and y using the right methods).
So let's use those first two equations to solve for x and y:
{{{x+14=5x-2}}}
{{{14=4x-2}}}
{{{16=4x}}}
{{{x=4}}}
AND
{{{2y+4=3y-3}}}
{{{4=y-3}}}
{{{y=7}}}
If you check these answers, you will find that all four sides equal 18.
And that is a comforting thing!
I hope this helps! Keep practicing! :)
