Question 698625
In order to solve an equation with the quadratic formula, the expression must be in the form {{{a*x^2 + b*x + c = 0}}} for some values a, b, and c. So, to solve this expression with the quadratic formula, one must spend the time re-writing this equation to be in that form, then plug those numbers into a somewhat lengthy formula.
On the other hand, the equation is already set up in the form it needs to be to use the Square Root Property -- taking the square root of both sides yields (x-3) = +/- 5. Just add three to both sides and the equation is solved.
Because the equation is written in a way that makes the Square Root Property much faster and easier to use, I'd prefer to be in Mi-Ling's group.
