Question 684837

A passenger plane made a trip to Las-Vegas and back. On the trip there it flew 400 mph and on the return trip it went 480 mph. How far was the trip if it took one hour more for the plane to fly there than to return home? How long was the trip there? The return trip?

-I am confused on what to do on this question. Could you please help me... I know rate*time&distance=distance but i'm confused on this question.

Let distance one-way be D
Then: {{{D/400 - 1 = D/480}}}
6D – 2,400 = 5D ---- Multiplying by LCD, 2,400
6D – 5D = 2,400

D, or distance = {{{highlight_green(2400)}}} miles

You can do the check!!
