Separate the equation into the real parts and imaginary parts.  For imaginary parts, ignore the i.<P>
Equation 1 (real parts only):  -2x -4 =3x ---> -4 = 5x ---> -4/5 = x<P>
Equation 2 (imaginary parts only, ignoring the i):  2y = -2 ---> y=-1<P>
Plug those back into the original equation to prove they work.  They do.
