You made this a lot more difficult than you needed to. Use parentheses.

8/(2x - 3y) = 7/(6x - 4y)

is sufficient to tell what goes where.

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{8}{2x\ -\ 3y}\ =\ \frac{7}{6x\ -\ 4y}]

Cross-multiply:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 48x\ -\ 32y\ =\ 14x\ -\ 21y]

Collect like terms:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 34x\ =\ 11y]

Multiply by *[tex \LARGE \frac{1}{y}], then multiply by *[tex \LARGE \frac{1}{34}]

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{x}{y}\ =\ \frac{11}{34}]
