Question 60943
Given 2x + y      = 0                (1)
       x + 1.5 y  = 4.5              (2)

Consider equation (1),

2x + y = 0

2x = -y

Divide by “-1”,

-2x = y                                      (3)

Substitute equation (3) in equation (2), we get

x + (1.5) * (-2x) = 4.5

x - 3.00x = 4.5

- 2 x = 4.5

x = 4.5 / -2 = -2.25

Now substitute for x = -2.25 in equation (3),

-2( -2.25) = y

4.5 = y

Therefore  the value of x = -2.25 and the value of y = 4.5
