Question 675820
Perpendicular lines have a negative inverse slope.

...
-5x+9y=2
9y = 5x + 2
y = {{{(5/9)x + (2/9)}}}
The slope is {{{5/9}}}
...
The slope of the perpendicular line will be {{{-9/5}}}
Using the point (-8,1),
y - 1 = {{{-9/5}}}(x--8)
y - 1 = {{{-9/5}}}(x+8)
y - 1 = {{{(-9/5)x - (9/5)(8)}}}
y = {{{(-9/5)x - 72/5 + 1}}}
y = {{{(-9/5)x - 72/5 + 1(5/5)}}}
y = {{{(-9/5)x - 72/5 + 5/5}}}
{{{highlight_green(y = (-9/5)x - 67/5)}}}
...
{{{graph(300,200,-10,10,-10,10,(5/9)x+(2/9),(-9/5)x-(67/5))}}}
