Question 7612
for some reason, mathematiciansdo not like square roots on a denominator. Why? God knows.

Anyway, we therefore need to "rationalise the denominator". We do this, in this sort of simple case, by multiplying by 1 (but written as a fraction)...as:

{{{sqrt(1/2)}}}
{{{sqrt(1)/sqrt(2)}}}
{{{1/sqrt(2)}}} --> now multiply by "1"
{{{(1/sqrt(2))*1}}} --> but written as the second fraction
{{{(1/sqrt(2))*(sqrt(2)/sqrt(2))}}}
{{{sqrt(2)/(sqrt(2)*sqrt(2))}}}
{{{sqrt(2)/2}}}

done.
