Question 673791

A sweater costs $12 more than twice the cost of a skirt. The sweater costs $38. Find the cost of the skirt.

Let the cost of the skirt be S

Then sweater costs 2S + 12. Since sweater also costs $38, then: 2S + 12 = 38

2S = 26

S, or cost of skirt = {{{26/2}}}, or ${{{highlight_green(13)}}}
