Question 672520
if the sum of 3 consecutive number is 96 find the number

Let the 3 consecutive numbers be:

n

n + 1 and

n + 2

Therefore:

n + n + 1 + n + 2 = 96

3n + 3 = 96

Subtract 3 from each side of the equation.

3n + 3 - 3 = 96 - 3

3n = 93

Divide each side by 3

3n/3 = 93/3

n = 31

n + 1 = 32

n + 2 = 33

Therefore the 3 consecutive numbers are:

31, 32 and 33
