Most people end up having to memorize this, this is how you derive it.
(a+b)(a+b)(a+b)  Multiply the second two.
(a+b)(a^2+ab+ab+b^2)
(a+b)(a^2+2ab+b^2)  distribute the a then the b from the first parentheses.
a(a^2+2ab+b^2)+b(a^2+2ab+b^2)
a^3+2a^2b+ab^2+a^2b+2ab^2+b^3
a^3+2a^2b+a^2b+ab^2+2ab^2+b^3
a^3+3a^2b+3ab^2+b^3
If you're in algebra II it's worth memorizing.
