Question 669575

find the two greatest consecutive even integers whose sum is less than 60

Plesae show detail of the work.

Let the smaller of the 2 integers be S
Then the larger integer = S + 2

We can then say that: S + S + 2 < 60

2S < 58

S, or smaller integer < {{{58/2}}}, or {{{S < 29}}}

Since smaller of the 2 consecutive even integers is less than 29, then the smaller even integer = {{{28}}}.

The two consecutive even integers are: {{{highlight_green(28_and_30)}}}
