Question 668536
<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

You can't do anything with the rational expression you posted. *[tex \LARGE X] is NOT the same thing as *[tex \LARGE x]. However, presuming sloppiness on your part, I will interpret your problem to be:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{x^4\ +\ 256}{x\ -\ 4}]

<pre>

4   1   0   0   0 256
        4  16  64 256
---------------------
    1   4  16  64 512
</pre>

Therefore *[tex \LARGE \frac{x^4\ +\ 256}{x\ -\ 4}\ =\ x^3\ +\ 4x^2\ +\ 16x\ +\ 64\ +\ \frac{512}{x\ -\ 4}].  Furthermore, if *[tex \LARGE f(x)\ =\ x^4\ +\ 256] then *[tex \LARGE f(4)\ =\ 512]

*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi}\ +\ 1\ =\ 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
