THE QUESTION READS   3W IS GRATER THAN 2L BY 3 .MY DAUGHTER DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE  3 IS ON RIGHT SIDE ,AM LOOSING WILL TO LIVE .PLEASE HELP

Lets take one example
10 is greater than 6 by 4

10 is greater

if you add 4 to 6 then it is equal to 10

10=6+4

3W IS GRATER THAN 2L BY 3 

Which is greater? 3W or 2L 

obviously 3W

3W is greater than 2L  by 3

that means if you add 3 to 2L then it is equal to 3W

therefore 3W=2L+3

....
