Question 663819
I know the answer (looked it up online), but don't understand how to go about getting it. Here is the question: The sum of 4 consecutive 3 digit numbers is 866. What are the 4 numbers? Explain your strategy
**
let x=1st consecutive number
x+1=2nd consecutive number
x+2=3rd consecutive number
x+3=4th consecutive number
They are all supposed to add up to 866
x+(x+1)+(x+2)+(x+3)=866
4x+6=866
4x=860
x=860/4
x=215
1st consecutive number=215
2nd consecutive number=216
3rd consecutive number=217
4th consecutive number=218
Its great 6th graders are learning this stuff. I did not learn this stuff until I was in high school.
