Question 662040
If one runner that runs at 14.6 feet per second, another runner that runs at 11.3 feet per second, and one lap around the track is 660 feet; then after how many seconds will the faster runner be exactly one lap ahead of the other runner?
---
faster runner DATA:
rate = 14.6 ft/sec ; time = x hrs: distance 14.6x feet
------
slower runner DATA:
rate = 11.3 ft/sec ; time = x hrs; distance = 11.3x feet
-----
Equation:
faster dist - slower dist = 660
14.6x - 11.3x = 660
-------
3.3x = 660
x = 200 seconds
