Question 662024

How to solve 5x+5y=9 when x=19/15. And when solved Y=8/15.

I'm having a problem multipying the 19/15 into 5 to solve the equation.
Thank you for your assistance.

5x + 5y = 9

{{{5(19/15) + 5y = 9}}} ------ Substituting {{{19/15}}} for x

{{{cross(5)(19/3cross(15)) + 5y = 9}}}

{{{19/3 + 5y = 9}}}

19 + 15y = 27 ----- Multipling equation by LCD, 3

15y = 27 - 19

15y = 8

{{{highlight_green(y = 8/15)}}}
