Question 658040
I think it says that the volume is 42 ft^3. Area would be in square feet.

The way they got the volume was:

V=length*width*height
V=8.0 ft * 7.0 ft * 0.75 ft
V =42 ft^3

To calculate the volume in cm, convert the l, w, and h to centimeters before multiplying. Then, the unit of the volume will be cm^3.

To convert feet to cm, do it in steps. Go to inches first and then to centimeters. I do this with the "unit factor" method. If you multiply a number by 1, you do not change the number. If you put things that are equal in a ratio, you are multiplying by 1 and you only change the units. This is a very useful technique in physics and chemistry.

Eg:
8 ft * 12 inches/1 foot *2.54 cm/inch = 243.84 cm
7 ft * 12 inches/1 foot *2.54 cm/inch = 213.36 cm
0.75 ft * 12 inches/1 foot *2.54 cm/inch = 22.86 cm

Multiply the l, w, and h in centimeters to get the volume in cm^3.

v= 1189307.56 cm^3
