Question 657337
The dirt formula! Well, more like d = rt where:
d = distance
r = rate (speed)
t = time
A boy walks 13 km in 2.0 hours. What is his speed in km/h and m/s?
Fill in what you know:
d = rt
13 = r(2.0)
13 = 2r
13/2 = r
r = 6.5 km/h (since the info was in kilometers and hours)
To then get meters/second, multiply by 1,000 (since there are 1,000 meters in a km)
= 6500
Then divide by 60 twice since there are 60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in an hour:
= 6500/60/60
r = 1.8 m/s
