Question 655077
There are many different systems of units in use.
The FFF or Furlong/Firkin/Fortnight system is a humorous example of a very
 impractical system of units.
However, it is not hard to convert from FFF to SI units and vice versa.
The base units in this system are the furlong (should be familiar to horse racing fans), which is 1/8 of a mile or 220 yards, the firkin, which is 90
pounds and the fortnight, which is 14 days.
:
Another unit in this category is the "stone" which I think is 14 lb.
How many stones in a firkin, would it be 6 stones and 42 pebbles?
And the "hand" which is used to measure the height of a horse, 4" I think.
How many hands in a furlong? 1980? But I am getting carried away.
:
If you are traveling on your bicycle at 25 km/hr, how fast is that in furlongs per fortnight?
:
14*24 = 336 hrs in a fortnight
convert 25 km/h: .6214(25) = 15.535 mph
8 * 15.535 * 336 = 41,758 furlongs/fortnight
