Question 652410

Tickets for a school play sold for $7.50 for each adult and $3 for each child. The total reciepts for 113 tickets sold were $663. Find the number of adult tickets sold!

Please get back to me as soon as you can! Thank you!

Let amount of adults who attended be A
Then amount of children who attended = 113 - A

Since an adult and a child's ticket cost $7.5, and $3, respectively, then:

7.5A + 3(113 - A) = 663

7.5A + 339 - 3A = 663

7.5A - 3A = 663 - 339

4.5A = 324

A, or amount of adults who attended = {{{324/4.5}}}, or {{{highlight_green(72)}}}

Since 113 tickets were sold, and since 72 adults attended, then amount of children who attended = 113 - 72, or {{{highlight_green(41)}}}
