Question 650174
The sum of two numbers is eleven. Seven less than five times the smaller is equal to the larger.

Let the larger number be L, and the smaller, S

Then L + S = 11 ------ eq (i)

Also, L = 5S - 7 ----- L - 5S = - 7 ------- eq (ii)

6S = 18 ----- Subtracting eq (ii) from eq (i)

S, or smaller = {{{18/6}}}, or {{{highlight_green(3)}}}

Larger number = 11 - 3, or {{{highlight_green(8)}}}

You can do the check!!
