Question 649702
Let's work the problem out.

{{{6 - (2/3)(x+3) + (5/6)x}}}

I don't like fractions, so the first thing I'm going to do is multiply every term by the gcd of the denominators... in this case 6. Now since this is an expression, I will need to divide everything by 6 when I get my final answer.

{{{36 - 4(x+3) + 5x}}}
{{{36 -4x -12 +5x}}}
{{{24 +x}}}
Now remember to divide by 6.
{{{(x+24)/6}}} <--- algebrator answer
Now distribute through the 1/6
{{{x/6 +24/6}}}
{{{4 + (1/6)x}}} <--- study guide answer

These are exactly the same answer.

Hope this helps!
